International career In 2008, Vucinic was named in Croatia's preliminary squad for the Euro 2008 tournament in Austria and Switzerland. He started in three of their matches at the tournament, playing the full 90 minutes in all three matches. He replaced Mario Mandžukić in extra time of their final game against the Czech Republic and scored a vital winning goal, a 50-yard free kick on the turn after a corner by Mandžukić. His other appearances for the national team were games against Greece and Japan, both ended with losses. Vucinic was named in the Croatian squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He played two matches for Croatia in the World Cup, replacing Dražen Ladić in the last 10 minutes of their second group stage match against Uruguay.
